How the Borby Water Tube works
The Borby Water Tube allows water, nutrients and air to by-pass the dry compacted surface and reach
down to the root zone. This depth would otherwise take many-many litres of slowly applied, surface
water to achieve.
Water is critical to plant survival and with most methods of watering it is not always evident if
water is penetrating and reaching the root zone of the plant or just running off. How often have you
scratched under the surface to find that it is dry and powdery or as hard as rock? Therefore surface
watering is nearly always just that, watering the surface.
Where did the concept come from?
Most people would probably have seen the ugly black or grey plastic tubes that stick out of the
ground from around plants on nature strips, parks or in Shopping Centers. Councils or landscapers
would have installed these tubes at the time of planting to help the plants' survive. If water is
funneled into the tubes then it must get to the root system in the fastest possible time. This could
be called a trick of the trade or just smart thinking.
Borby Water Tubes are not just pieces of plastic pipe. They have been specifically developed to offer
a permanent UV protected 'Underground Deep Root Watering System'.
They are 57mm in diameter, 400mm long, made from recycled polypropylene plastic and come with a
perforated cap that is UV stabilized and available in a choice of three landscape colors; green,
dark brown or terracotta.
They are a completely new underground watering system that takes the guess work out of watering and
stops unnecessary waste and losses.
Whether you hand water with a hose or watering can, or couple them to a watering system, either way
you will have an Underground Deep Watering System that waters your plants with the minimum of water
and time. Please see the Watering section of this website for
details.
